Privacy Policy
Effective date: [TODO — set the publication date]
1. Who we are
Family Suite ("we", "us") is a family management app that helps a household keep groceries, medicine, documents, and expenses organized in one shared family workspace. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@familysuite.app (please confirm this address before launch).
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your name, mobile number, and (optionally) an email address. Your password is stored only as a secure one-way hash — we cannot read it.
Family and member information. To use the app you create or join a family. We store the family name, description, address, and contact phone you provide, plus the members you add. Members can be people with their own account or "offline" relatives you manage for them — for those we store the details you enter (name, relationship, date of birth, gender, phone, and notes).
Household records. The core of the app is the data you enter: grocery purchases, medicine details and purchases, document files you upload, and expenses. Documents may include sensitive items such as IDs or prescriptions.
Usage information. We keep a family activity timeline (e.g. "grocery added") and basic login metadata needed to secure your account.
Device permissions. The Android app requests only the Internet permission, needed to talk to our servers. It does not request camera, contacts, or broad storage permissions. When you upload a document, you choose the file through your device's standard file picker; we never access your device storage otherwise.
We do not track you with advertising or analytics SDKs. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics/crash-reporting SDKs.
3. How we use your information
- Provide the service: show your family its records, dashboard, and activity.
- Enable collaboration: let invited family members see and add records according to their role.
- Secure your account and recover access (see password reset below).
- Respond to support requests and maintain the app.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on your consent and the need to perform our contract with you, and on legitimate interests for security. If you are in the EU/EEA, you can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data (see Section 8).
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
- Your family. Records you add are visible to the family members you invite, within their role. This is the purpose of the app.
- Service providers. Providers that run our hosting and (once connected) deliver password-reset codes, bound by confidentiality. The OTP delivery method is not yet connected to a live email/SMS provider; in development the code is written to a server log instead of being sent — confirm the production method before launch.
- Legal requests. When required by law or to protect rights and safety.
6. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on Family Suite's servers [TODO: name the hosting provider, e.g. "hosted on …"]. Connections use HTTPS. Documents are stored on a private storage disk and are served only through authenticated, family-scoped requests — they are never publicly accessible. Passwords are hashed, and API access uses per-device tokens that you can revoke by logging out.
7. Data retention
We keep your account and family data while your account is active. You can delete individual records, members, and family data at any time from within the app. [TODO: define and state the retention period for backups and deleted data.]
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To delete your account and associated family data, contact support@familysuite.app. We will action verifiable requests as required by law. You can also log out to revoke the current device token at any time.
9. Children's privacy
Family Suite is intended for adults — typically a parent or guardian — who organize household information, including records about relatives who may be children. We do not knowingly create accounts for children who use the app directly, and we do not target children with advertising. If you add a minor as an offline family member, you confirm you have the authority to provide that information. A dedicated children's-data (COPPA / GDPR-K) review should be completed before launch.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy and will post the new effective date here. Questions or requests can be sent to support@familysuite.app.
